Description
Check out this very collectable, gorgeous, state-of-the-art 1957 Fairlane 500 retractable Skyliner. Today, these cars have become the true American iconic classic and very collectible by automotive enthusiasts worldwide. Under the forward-tilting hood is the Thunderbird 312 V8 4V carb producing about 245hp. It starts up smoothly and doesn’t smoke. It is backed by an automatic transmission that moves through the gears nicely.
This beautiful 1957 Ford Skyliner is a great surviving example of early American automotive engineering. Presented in the Starmist blue and colonial white colour combination, featuring a Continental kit, power steering, aftermarket spotlights and mirrors, side skirts and 3” white walls. Inside is fully loaded with power mirrors and power seats, the interior (blue) is in great condition, bench seats front and rear and AM/FM/cassette radio.
What was so remarkable about the 1957 Fairlane 500 Skyliner was its hide-away hardtop. It’s impressive when you see the new Mercedes next to you at a light drop its hardtop electronically. It’s hard to believe that the same technology has been around for 60 years. After pressing a button under the dash, the Skyliner hardtop would unscrew itself from the windshield frame and then fold neatly and tucked away under a long, flat trunk lid that lifted on its own to make way for the top. In about 25 seconds, the Skyliner driver could transform his coupe into a true convertible.
